Bitcoin Breaks Above $66k – Is The Next Bullish Breakout Initiated? Bitcoin has climbed above $66k for the first time in over a month, rising more than 3% in the last 24 hours and recouping about 15% of its late July lows. However, the crypto market has found a reason to feel optimistic, now focusing on whether the breakout will last.

One of the key drivers for this increase has been the return of inflows to spot Bitcoin ETFs.

Inflows of spot Bitcoin ETFs now exceeded $1.2 billion this week as investors like BlackRock with IBIT continue to add assets. In the US, progress has been made on the CLARITY Act, with sources indicating a crucial ethics deal has been brokered. With this advancement the bill appears to be heading towards a vote in the Senate. Many believe clearer regulatory environments would bring about better long-term market sentiment and increase institutional adoption.

Technically, the asset has now broken out of a weeks-long descending channel, so long as bulls remain in control the next important area of resistance would lie between $67,400-68,000.

Moreover, a significant amount of open short positions near current levels have likely already been liquidated by this surge, which could ignite a short-squeeze potentially accelerating the upward move. Despite the positive momentum on the price, however, 24-hour trading volumes have fallen considerably, indicating that bullish momentum may not be as strong as some traders were hoping for. Low volume can sometimes signify the need for a stronger affirmation of the breakout pattern before we establish a sustainable move.

As is typically the case, cryptocurrencies are volatile assets. Technical patterns, institutional activity, global macro data, and regulatory news all combine to move markets. Prudent Risk Management is of paramount importance for all participants.

Will Bitcoin continue above the $68,000 mark in the coming weeks, or will it enter another consolidation period before its next significant breakout?

A breakout from the falling channel is a good sign, but volume hasn’t followed—beware of a false breakout. Short positions being squeezed could accelerate the move, but don’t forget risk management.

ETF inflows and the CLARITY Act are positive, but the trading volume is low, which feels a bit weak. We need to observe.
