Anthropic’s $1.5 Billion Copyright Settlement Gets Final Court Approval

A U.S. federal court has officially approved Anthropic’s $1.5 billion settlement with thousands of authors over claims that the AI company used copyrighted books without permission to help train its Claude chatbot. The ruling makes it the largest known copyright settlement in U.S. history. It also marks the first major AI copyright lawsuit in the country to reach a final settlement.
