Breaking! Nvidia splashed $2 billion late at night—this stock surged 19%! Is this the last trap-and-opportunity for retail investors?

Last night, Wall Street blew up—three things hit at once, and the entire neocloud sector directly took off.

IREN shares jumped 19%, Hut 8 rose 10%, and Nebius also surged after-hours. Guess what? NVIDIA quietly revealed in an SEC filing that it holds 9.3% of Nebius, worth $2 billion. Once the news broke, institutions immediately called out a forecast of $30 billion in revenue by 2030.

First, IREN. On Monday, they signed a $2.8 billion multi-year cloud computing contract. The customer list includes Microsoft, NVIDIA, Perplexity, and Figure AI—all lined up. Their annualized revenue target was raised from $3.7 billion to more than $4 billion, and 85% already has contracts lined up. By 2027, data center capacity needs to expand from 480 MW to 1.2 GW. The company’s predecessor was Australia-based $BTC miner Iris Energy; after pivoting to AI, it completely changed its face.

Hut 8 went even harder. The Beacon Point campus in Texas was bought outright by a highly investment-grade corporate entity, signing a 15-year lease worth $9.8 billion. The tenant also doubled its compute capacity to 704 MW. Including extension options, potential value could exceed $50 billion. Hut 8 also started as a Canadian $BTC miner. Over the past 12 months, its share price has more than quadrupled, but it has pulled back 30% from highs—B. Riley analyst directly said: buy now; the stock will return to its prior peak.

For Nebius, NVIDIA’s 9.3% stake fully ignited sentiment. Wolfe Research predicts their 2030 revenue could reach $30 billion. They’ve already signed long-term agreements with Meta and Microsoft, locking in more than 3.5 GW of power capacity. Even sector leader CoreWeave jumped 3.5% alongside it.

The core logic of this theme is simple: tech giants burn money to build AI; the pace of data center construction by mega-scale cloud service providers can’t keep up. Independent neocloud operators move into the gap. What matters now is power resources, GPU supply, and customer lock-in capability—who moves faster wins. NVIDIA personally stepped in to take a stake, which is effectively a certification stamp for this track.

For retail investors, opportunities are hidden among those $BTC mining firms that have undergone pivots and independent compute companies. But remember the example: after Hut 8 jumped 4x, it then dropped 30%—the logic can be right and the price can still be wrong, leading to losses. Keep an eye on contract size, power capacity, and customer quality—don’t chase stocks that have already flown to the sky.
