South Korea will expand its digital payments pilot from 100,000 to 500,000 wallets. Nine banks will participate in the second phase of the experiment, and testing may begin in September.

Users will pay with deposit tokens - digital representations of funds in bank accounts. The storage limit will be increased to 10 million won per wallet, and the system will include user-to-user transfers, biometric verification, and automatic top-up.
