Sharp rebound after a big sell-off! The 4,000 life-or-death line held on a tight margin, facing resistance at 4,090!
On Friday’s late session, gold surged to 4,110 before stalling and falling back. In today’s Asia session, it trades sideways with a downward bias; the low briefly touched 4,003, the key support, after which a technical rebound kicked in. It is currently trading around 4,085. Overall, it shows a volatile bearish pattern of “spike up then pull back, probing the bottom with weak rebound.” Long and short sides are locked in fierce contention; 4,000–4,020 is the short-term bulls’ last line of defense, while the 4,080–4,090 zone forms a strong resistance band.
Technical indicators: bearish signals dominate the market. On the daily timeframe, the TRIX trend indicator’s high-level dead cross continues, and the medium-to-long-term downtrend remains unchanged. After the MACD fast and slow lines formed a dead cross below the 0 axis, they have been flattening at low levels; the green momentum histogram has started to narrow but has not completely disappeared, suggesting bearish momentum is still building and upside room is limited. On the 4-hour timeframe, it shows a weak rebound: price briefly rebounds along the Bollinger Band’s midline but has never effectively broken above the prior downtrend line. The RSI is capped near 60, indicating insufficient rebound strength. The current price around 4,085 sits in an SBR structural transition area; 4,090–4,093 overhead is a strong resistance band. Below, 4,031–4,060 is the key support range.
Practical trading suggestions: focus on whether resistance at the 4,090–4,110 area holds, and also watch the two levels at 4,140 and 4,175. If resistance is met and not broken, you can consider taking short positions. Look down toward the 4,040 support and the 4,000 level; if there is a substantive breakdown below that level, continue to hold the view for further downside.
