Microsoft and Mistral expand AI cooperation, signing a multi-billion-dollar Europe AI infrastructure deal

Odaily Planet Daily reports that on July 21, Microsoft and French AI startup Mistral AI announced an expansion of their strategic cooperation. They reached an agreement worth several billions of dollars to build European AI infrastructure and enhance AI computing power in Europe. Under the agreement, Microsoft will use Mistral’s expanded European GPU infrastructure to support its cloud computing and AI services. The infrastructure will be built on thousands of NVIDIA Vera Rubin GPUs.

As for the products, the Mistral Medium 3.5 and OCR 4 models have now been integrated into Microsoft Foundry. Mistral Medium 3.5 has also been added to Microsoft Copilot Studio, and can be used for agent applications, document processing workflows, and industry-customized workflows. In addition, the two sides will expand AI deployment through Azure and Azure Local to support cloud, cloud-connected, and fully offline environments, targeting industries with high data compliance requirements such as finance, healthcare, and manufacturing.
