Wu Says learned that the U.S. District of Columbia Federal Prosecutor’s Office and the U.S. Secret Service announced that, in relation to multiple international cryptocurrency fraud cases targeting residents of the United States and Canada, they have seized more than $25 million in cryptocurrency assets and filed 5 civil forfeiture lawsuits. The related cases involve fake investment platforms, online romance scams, and a secondary scam known as “recovering stolen funds.” It has been confirmed that there are thousands of victims worldwide. The alleged money-laundering suspects are mainly located in Southeast Asia, and the relevant IP addresses originate from China, Malaysia, and Cambodia. This seizure is part of the Scam Center Strike Force operation established in 2025, which has collectively recovered more than $800 million.

$800 million? That number is so massive it’s hard to believe—the water behind it is far deeper than I imagined.

This kind of cross-border coordinated crackdown on scams deserves praise, and we hope it will deter more criminals.

Seizing them isn’t enough—we have to severely punish the masterminds behind those IPs, otherwise they’ll just come back with a new alias in two months.
