Germany’s domestic security forces plan to expand to more than 10,000 personnel

A commander of Germany’s Federal Armed Forces Territorial Security Force said the unit will complete its expansion before 2035, growing from the current 6,500 people to more than 10k. The Territorial Security Force, formed last year, is made up of reservists and active-duty personnel and is under the command of the Army. Under NATO’s centralized command structure, Germany’s three divisions of the Army during wartime may be deployed for overseas operations, while the Territorial Security Force will stay within Germany to handle homeland defense.
