“Morocco-Nigeria Gas Pipeline” Wins Support From ECOWAS

On the 19th, 19 member states of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) signed an agreement to support the construction of the “Morocco–Nigeria Natural Gas Pipeline” project. Morocco’s National Agency for Oil and Gas and Nigeria’s National Petroleum Company jointly issued a statement saying that the ECOWAS member states signed the agreement at a meeting held that day in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. The gas pipeline is about 6,000 km in total length, with a designed annual gas transmission capacity of up to 30 billion cubic meters. It will pass through more than ten West African countries, transporting Nigerian natural gas to Morocco, and can then connect to other pipelines for delivery to European markets. (Xinhua)
