Quantum computers haven’t arrived yet, but Satoshi’s 1.1 million BTC is already creating a problem

【Plain-language guide】A zero-knowledge proof tool only needs 243 milliseconds to help modern Bitcoin wallets complete a secure migration before quantum attacks. But Satoshi’s 1.1 million early bitcoins are being kept out of the self-rescue doorway.
Project Eleven’s solution works for HD wallets after 2012, but it cannot save older P2PK coins without a controllable key tree. 1.7 million vulnerable bitcoins face four possible outcomes: letting them be stolen, forcing freezes, rate limiting like an hourglass, or hard-fork reallocation—each path challenges Bitcoin’s property rights and immutability principles.
Technology has provided a partial answer, but the real difficulty lies in politics. While quantum computers are not here yet, a community governance crisis has already priced the value of Bitcoin.
