News from BiJie: Galaxy Digital has launched a Bitcoin quantum readiness program, providing developers with up to $5 million in post-quantum cryptography research funding, and publishing a special research report and establishing a Quantum Advisory Committee. The program is intended to address the risk that quantum computers could crack Bitcoin encryption. Project Eleven predicts that by 2030 approximately 6.9 million BTC will face exposure risk. Coinbase’s Quantum Advisory Committee has called on developers to start migration. U.S. President Trump signed an executive order, setting the deadline for the federal government to complete the post-quantum cryptography migration as December 2031.

Quantum attacks currently remain at the theoretical stage, but it’s good to plan ahead. Galaxy Digital’s establishment of a quantum advisory committee shows they take this long-term risk seriously and is worth watching.

Galaxy has shown a lot of foresight with this move. The $5 million grant isn’t much, but it can attract developers to research post-quantum cryptography—hopefully other institutions will follow suit.
