Deep Tide TechFlow news: On July 21, according to Decrypt, Galaxy Digital officially launched the “Bitcoin Quantum Readiness Program.” The three core pillars include providing developers with research grants of up to $5 million for post-quantum cryptography studies, publishing special research reports through Galaxy Research, and establishing a quantum advisory committee made up of scholars from multiple top universities.

The program aims at “Q-Day”—the critical moment when quantum computers use the Shor algorithm to break Bitcoin’s elliptic curve encryption, forge signatures, and steal wallet assets. Project Eleven predicts that quantum computers with cryptographic threat capabilities may appear as early as 2030, at which point about 6.9 million BTC could be exposed to risk. Coinbase’s quantum advisory committee has also called on developers to begin migration work immediately. At the same time, Trump has signed an executive order setting December 2031 as the deadline for the U.S. federal government to complete the post-quantum cryptography migration.
