Mars Finance News: According to Dawn, Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has set up a virtual currency investigation unit within the newly inaugurated National Command and Control Center (NC3), focusing on cracking down on money laundering and terrorist financing using virtual assets. Counter-terrorism officials said the unit will work with the newly established Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA), specifically investigating criminal activities involving crypto assets, and will also recommend that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) establish similar units to address the use of crypto assets in cybercrime and drug trafficking. The FIA also integrates functions within NC3 such as anti-money laundering, border entry and exit monitoring, and human trafficking and smuggling investigations, and is moving forward with new regulations and expanded staffing to shorten case-handling timelines and improve law-enforcement coordination efficiency.
