Playing in the crypto market for all these years, I’ve survived on just these six iron rules!
Not talent—discipline!
Many people think whether futures contracts succeed or fail depends on technology or talent, but the real dividing line is actually mindset and discipline. After surviving in this market for six years, I don’t rely on being smart—I rely on sticking to a few most basic—and also the most ruthless—principles.
1. Stop-loss is a protective charm, not a disgrace
The trades most likely to end in liquidation usually aren’t caused by a wrong judgment; they’re caused by taking consecutive stop-losses and then urgently trying to “win it back.” Remember: stop-loss is saving your own life. My iron law is—after two losing trades in a row, stop immediately. Calmly review and reassess; only enter again once emotions have stabilized. As long as your principal is still there, you can still keep playing the game.
2. Position is life or death; going all-in is basically suicide
Newcomers always want to turn things around with a single trade, but the result is often zero overnight. I will never allow any single position to exceed 10%. Profits can be slow, but the principal must not disappear. Losing control of position size is the same as stepping onto a cliff on purpose.
3. Only trade with the trend; never against it
The market has its own direction. If you follow the trend, you might not catch the fish head or fish tail, but you can still steadily eat the fish’s body. If you go against the trend, it’s like reaching out to grab a falling knife. When the trend isn’t clear, I’d rather watch from the sidelines.
4. Calculate profit and loss first, then talk about your entry
Before placing every trade, ask yourself first: does the risk-reward ratio meet 2:1? If it doesn’t, give up. The market isn’t short of opportunities—it’s short of the capital to keep you alive. Don’t even touch trades that aren’t worth it.
5. Do fewer trades; think more
Frequent trading only amplifies emotional swings and feeds the fee machine. I check the charts only two or three times a day, and if signals aren’t clear, I don’t move. Sometimes, not doing it is even more about willpower.
6. Profits must be pocketed—don’t just be “wealthy on paper”
If you make money, you must withdraw part of it. Leave some to keep rolling, and withdraw some to secure the base. This isn’t only about protecting profits—it’s also about maintaining a balance in your mindset.
In this game of contracts and derivatives, it’s not about who is smarter—it’s about who can last longer.
Discipline determines your lifespan, and mindset determines your endpoint. This path has no myths—only people who quietly keep the rules and walk step by step.
The market is always changing; stubbornly clinging on will only get you eliminated.
