People should become independent as early as possible.

A small friend in the village—his family is fairly well off, because his dad is sharp and knows how to do business.
That precious kid has been pampered all along; he didn’t truly become independent until his dad died, his mom developed senile dementia, and his wife ran off.
His dad bought him a house in the city. He didn’t live there—he sold it, spent the money, then moved back to the village to live with his dad and mom.
Then he went back to ask his dad and mom for money, and bought another house.
He’s been eyeing his dad’s money for a long time, finding all kinds of ways to get more.
Naturally, he couldn’t build a real family life of his own. Now that his dad is dead, his mom is demented, and his wife has left, he’s finally on his own—going to work in other places.
But by then he’s already middle-aged, so he can’t stir up much trouble anymore.
What a good life turned into this.
