🔍 UK Parliament launches investigation into crypto banking services

A UK parliamentary panel has officially begun investigating the banking-service difficulties faced by the crypto industry. Just weeks ahead of the new regulatory framework (taking effect in October 2027), the timing is delicate.
The core contradiction: while the regulatory framework is already in place, banks still generally refuse or restrict crypto firms from opening accounts. The investigation will focus on whether banks are over-avoiding the sector due to compliance costs, reputational risk, or regulatory ambiguity.
Potential impact: if the investigation finds systemic discrimination by banks, it could prompt the UK government to introduce “right to banking services” rules, requiring banks not to refuse licensed crypto businesses without reason. Beneficiaries would be compliant exchanges and custody firms already registered with the FCA, such as #Coinbase UK、#Gemini.
Risk boundary: the investigation is only the conduct of a parliamentary panel and has no coercive power; whether legislation is ultimately enacted will depend on the actual enforcement after the 2027 regulatory framework is rolled out.
