China Merchants Securities International: Domestic model iterations are accelerating significantly; industry rating maintained at “Recommended”

Golden Finance News reported that on July 21, China Merchants Securities International released a report stating that ahead of and around the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), the iteration of domestic models has accelerated significantly. The Dark Side of the Moon released Kimi K3, featuring 2.8 trillion parameters and a 1 million token context; Alibaba launched a Qwen3.8Max preview version with the parameter count reaching 2.4 trillion. It is also reported that DeepSeek is expected to release the official V4 version soon. Overall, the competitive landscape at the model level remains undecided. Major manufacturers are still locked in a fast-paced iteration race, chasing one another, but the model roadmaps and company positioning have begun to diverge: trillion-parameter super-large flagship models continue to push the upper limits of intelligence, tackling advanced complex tasks such as long-range reasoning and parallelized Agent Swarm; hundred-billion-parameter models focus on cost-effectiveness and deployment efficiency, achieving broad availability in everyday general-purpose tasks. The firm maintained an industry rating of “Recommended,” and its main focus picks include: Alibaba’s full-stack AI capabilities, Tencent’s advantages in its C-side product ecosystem, Kuaishou’s Keling AI video generation model, and MiniMax’s native native multimodal capabilities.
