China has come up with another unusual move! The era when oil dominated people’s food, clothing, housing, and transportation is about to turn the page. Recently, the China Express Association announced that this year it plans to roll out at least 200 million bamboo machine packaging bags, reaching no less than 1 billion per year by 2030. The key is that, according to calculations by the Chinese Academy of Forestry Sciences, the cost of these bamboo-made bags is 15% lower than oil-based plastic, meaning they’re not only not open to price haggling— they’re actually cheaper.
