People aren’t afraid of making mistakes—they’re afraid of being called out for them.

In 2012, the toe of a Jesus statue in an Indian city started dripping water for no apparent reason.
Believers lined up with cups to catch it, convinced this was a miracle. Some drank it, while others took it home to collect it.
Later, a meticulous person went to check the plumbing and found that the water was seeping in from a nearby clogged toilet.
After the truth was uncovered, the person who investigated was later sued by the local community for “blasphemy,” and ultimately was forced to flee to Finland. Everyone would rather keep drinking than know where the water is coming from.
This also reminded the writer that when the market is good, shorts and people who pick at details are often the ones who get scolded the most.
After all, no one wants to hear that the water pipes are connected to a toilet while standing in line to fill their cup.
Harsh words are hard to hear—cherish the person beside you who’s willing to go take a look.
