7.21 Midday Thoughts

Midday focus, with a sideways bias: After last night’s BTC surge pushed up to the monthly profit-taking target of $65,799, it quickly met resistance and dropped back. During the midday session, the current price is consolidating in a narrow range around $65,300. The biggest weakness of this surge is still the severe shortage of incremental spot capital. The entire lift comes purely from a passive rebound/repair driven by concentrated liquidation closures on the short side. Spot BTC has been maintaining a long-term net outflow state, with institutional capital’s wait-and-see sentiment at its peak. The surge is not getting any volume expansion to back it up, and bullish confidence is seriously lacking—this is the core reason the price drops immediately.

BTC: rebounds/repays near the $66,100–$66,600 short zone; the target is toward the $64,700–$64,200 area.
ETH: rebounds/repays near the $1,950–$1,990 short zone; the target is toward the $1,890–$1,850 area.

How far can a rebound from short-covering go? Without funding support, it’s just talk.

Bro, your analysis is on point. That needle from last night really looked scary, but in reality it was just a short squeeze—there was no real follow-through from the buy side. Now at the 65,000 level it’s stuck in a tough spot, neither up nor down, so both longs and shorts feel uncomfortable. Still, I think Ethereum is weaker; it might not even reach 1,950 before it turns around and drops. Strategy-wise, it’s safest to stay light from higher up, but your position must be small—since it’s the weekend and liquidity is poor, it’s easy for the price to get wicked. Also, the GUSD annualized 3.8% you mentioned is pretty interesting—did the funds all just end up deposited into stablecoins? No wonder BTC can’t get a move going.

This sell-off was definitely very fake. The volume on the hourly chart is shrinking; it’s basically using perpetual contract liquidations to force a bounce. If retail traders chase in, they’ll get buried. But for the short you mentioned near 66,100, it depends on whether they give you the opportunity. If they just smash it down, you might miss the move.
