I sometimes receive some private messages; they’re pretty direct, a bit far-fetched, but some are true. Over the years in the crypto space, I’ve come to know a lot of people, and also watched many leave. I’ve seen some blood-boiling stories, and after I summarized it myself, I found that some people really aren’t suited for futures/contract trading.

Some friends will say the losses were huge because they’re not experienced enough as beginners—but I’ve already heard the stories from more than ten people. People who trade for two or three years end up losing and getting buried in debt tell me their stories. Is that still just “not enough experience”? Everyone says financial markets amplify human nature, so the urge to gamble shows up. After thinking it through carefully, it feels less like “gambling instinct” and more like laziness—the word “laziness” fits this group of people in crypto best.

Many people like to jump in with full margin/all-in straight away, or go all-in with half, and when it goes up they liquidate everything to clear out, then keep searching for the next target. Simple and brutal saves time—you don’t need to think about anything else. I think that’s laziness, not that they have a big gambling streak. Lazy to think, lazy to control position sizing. When RMB turns into numbers stored in your account, all-in only takes a single click. How simple and mindless that is—making people lazy so they don’t have to think.

But if your assets are a bunch of banknotes sitting in front of you, telling you to go all-in, I think a normal person would consider controlling their position—that’s the difference between a virtual number world and the real world. What’s presented to you leads to two different outcomes. I didn’t make a lot of money, but overall I’m profitable in the crypto space. Trading has also given me a lot of thinking. I’m no longer getting impatient, blowing up positions, then quickly recharging and mindlessly jumping back in. Instead, I’ve learned to wait for the kind of market that suits me and that I’m good at.

People say that accumulating your first pot of gold is the hardest, but after you build it up, things will get smoother and smoother, and you’ll handle it more and more easily. After all, zero to one is a process, and after that is just replication. That said, in the virtual world, people gradually become unclear about the concept of money—it’s just a bunch of numbers. Slowly, I learned how to cash out. Learning to cash out is the first step in getting out of the digital-money world, and also the most important step for surviving a life of speculation.

Even if you’ve earned “oil” and leave it there without buying crypto, it’s not enough. Waiting for a good time and then buying slowly is also a good choice. This is my advice. I wish you and me can carve out our own path and enjoy every day in the present. #ETH突破1900美元
