Wu Says he learned that the Nasdaq-listed company LM Funding America announced that it will change its name to PowerCompute Inc. on July 22, and its stock ticker will change from LMFA to PWCM. The company said the name change reflects its shift in business focus to high-performance computing and AI infrastructure, and it plans to expand related businesses by leveraging its own operated power infrastructure located in two sites in Oklahoma and Mississippi, totaling 26 megawatts. The company’s existing Bitcoin reserves, mining operations, and its professional financing business for the nonprofit community association serving Florida will continue to be maintained.

Using 26 megawatts of power to build AI infrastructure looks pretty impressive, but the mining business—the old core business—is still there; I’d call it a “steady while seeking progress” kind of move.

From LMFA to PWCM, this company wants to tell the market: I’m not just mining—I’m here to cash in on the AI dividend.

Florida’s nonprofit community financing business hasn’t been abandoned; it’s actually been ramped up with more computing power—this move is a bit too big.
