#夏日创作营 Iranian senior official: Mediator proposes a 10-day Iran-U.S. ceasefire to seek to resume implementation of the memorandum of understanding reached last month

On the 20th, an Iranian senior official said that the Iran-U.S. negotiating mediator has put forward a proposal to the Iranian side aimed at easing the current situation. The proposal suggests implementing a 10-day ceasefire in an effort to restore implementation of the memorandum of understanding on which the Iran-U.S. sides reached agreement last month.
On the same day at a press conference, Baghaei, a spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Iran has received the proposal from the U.S. and the Iran-U.S. negotiating mediator, and that the details cannot be disclosed for now.
He also said that Iran’s Minister of Home Affairs will visit Pakistan that day to hold consultations with regard to related matters between the two countries.
Baghaei said that negotiation and war are both means to achieve objectives; it is incorrect to say that “defense and diplomacy cannot proceed in parallel.” Iran has never unilaterally violated the Iran-U.S. memorandum of understanding. The United States’ failure to honor its commitments led Iran to take countermeasures, and Iran’s armed forces are retaliating against the United States, “doing everything it can to stop its crimes.”
