I heard that Apple plans to use a Deppseek large model to add AI to iPhones for the domestic China version.

Is there any evidence for that? #苹果

Is it real? Will Apple use a homegrown large model? It doesn’t seem very reliable.

Unlikely—DeepSeek is inherently lacking in multimodal capabilities.

Don’t overthink it. Apple has always been closed off; even if it’s used, it would be a custom version. And they’re also working on AI themselves—so this is most likely a rumor.

I think it’s quite possible—after all, it needs to comply with domestic regulation, and DeepSeek’s technology isn’t bad either. It’s a win-win situation; it just depends on whether Apple is willing to lower its stance.

Earlier rumors said Apple and Baidu, as well as Alibaba, had talks—now DeepSeek has come up again. It’s probably not even in the cards yet, so wait for an official announcement.

If DeepSeek is truly used, that would be a major boon for domestic AI, but can Apple’s privacy policy be compatible?
