AMD expands cooperation with Microsoft, with Azure introducing AMD Helios rack-level AI infrastructure
Deep Tide TechFlow news: On July 20, AMD’s official blog reported that AMD and Microsoft announced an expansion of their collaboration to jointly provide AI infrastructure for production-scale deployments on Azure. Microsoft will adopt AMD Helios rack-level AI infrastructure driven by AMD Instinct™ MI455X accelerators, as an important part of its ongoing investment in Azure AI infrastructure.
AMD Helios is an integrated platform for AMD’s rack-level AI infrastructure. It combines the AMD Instinct™ MI455X accelerator, the next-generation AMD EPYC™ processors, AMD Pensando™ networking technology, and the ROCm™ software ecosystem, supporting large-scale AI training, inference, fine-tuning, and Agentic AI workloads. In addition, Microsoft will also launch a new Azure infrastructure product based on the sixth-generation AMD EPYC processors, covering high-demand scenarios such as AI data systems and semiconductor design. The two sides said the collaboration aims to offer customers more infrastructure options and to help AI move from the experimental stage to large-scale production deployments.
