U.S. stock pre-market news roundup: Musk denies that SpaceX placed an AI server order with Foxconn; optical communications and storage sectors rise in pre-market trading

July 20, according to Caixin Global, here is a roundup of pre-market news for US stocks: Musk denies that SpaceX has placed an order for AI server equipment with Hon Hai; Anthropic is reported to be testing AMD’s AI GPUs; the optical communications and storage sectors are up pre-market.
US stock index futures for the three major indexes rise moderately. Dow Jones index futures are up 0.26%, S&P 500 index futures are up 0.45%, and Nasdaq 100 index futures are up 0.92%.
International oil prices jump in the short term. WTI crude oil futures rise 0.08% to $81.843 per barrel; Brent crude oil futures rise 0.28% to $88.345 per barrel. On the news front, the Houthis announced a “maritime navigation ban” on Saudi Arabia.
International gold and silver spot prices move in different directions. Spot gold falls 0.12% to $4011.46 per ounce; spot silver rises 1.75% to $56.86 per ounce.
Europe’s three major stock indexes are mixed. The UK FTSE 100 falls 0.29%, France’s CAC40 rises 0.29%, and Germany’s DAX30 rises 0.24%.
Musk denies on the social media platform X reports that SpaceX plans to order about 13,000 Nvidia GB300 AI server rack systems from Hon Hai.
JPMorgan Chase says it is “too early” to have the semiconductor price turning point reflected in the market right now, and expects profit growth to drive a rebound in the US stock chip sector.
Semiconductor research firm SemiAnalysis says that, by analyzing GitHub code published by AMD executives, Anthropic may become its AI GPU customer, and signs of cooperation are appearing in the publicly available code.
US pre-market rises in the optical communications and storage sectors. Lumentum is up more than 3%, Coherent and Corning are up more than 2%; SK hynix, Micron Technology, and SanDisk are up more than 4%.
