King Charles III of the United Kingdom accepts Prime Minister Starmer’s resignation

King Charles III of the United Kingdom has accepted Prime Minister Starmer’s resignation. Earlier that day, Starmer delivered a farewell address at the Prime Minister’s Office at 10 Downing Street. He then met King Charles III at Buckingham Palace and formally submitted his resignation as prime minister. Under the procedure, after the King accepts the resignation, Starmer officially steps down as prime minister. The newly appointed Labour Party leader, Burnham, then receives the King’s appointment at Buckingham Palace, becoming the next prime minister and being authorized by the King to form a new government. After that, Burnham will deliver his first address as the United Kingdom’s prime minister from 10 Downing Street.
