Mars Finance news. On July 20, Meritz Securities’ research report stated that the spot price of server DRAM has recently surged sharply, and the spot price has already exceeded $3,100, which is a 146% premium over the June-end futures price of $1,380. The main driving factors include demand from Saudi Arabia and other sovereign AI projects, new AI data center testing demand, and extreme tightness in supplier supply. Meritz Securities emphasized that the spread between spot price and futures price is a key indicator, and since mid-July the spot price has risen significantly due to a surge in AI demand. Meritz Securities believes the current situation is similar to the unexpected rush-orders in the server market in January this year, and predicts that after hyperscalers release their quarterly earnings, any increase in futures prices could trigger a rebound in memory-related stocks.
