TSMC has truly welded the three words “Made-in-US TSMC” into place this time. At the July 16 earnings call, Chairman Wei Zhejia announced that Arizona will receive another $100 billion to build 4 wafer fabs plus advanced packaging, adding on top of the earlier $165 billion commitment—bringing TSMC’s direct total investment in the US to $265 billion. CFO Huang Renxiao’s latest guidance is even more aggressive: full-year capital expenditures have been raised from $52–$56 billion to $60–$64 billion; revenue from the 2nm process has already started contributing in Q2, with Q3 stepping in as the next growth engine.



The driving logic is straightforward: AI chip orders are packed to the brim, and US customers like Apple, AMD, and NVDA need 2nm and below process nodes. On top of that, Trump also has a political narrative about “America building the strongest national AI chips,” so TSMC simply moved capacity toward Arizona. This chain is expected to benefit first for the TSM ADR in the US, and the equipment side’s ASML as well as the materials side’s AMAT will also end up “sharing the meal.”

On the virtual-coin side, tokens with AI compute narratives like RNDR (Render) are also often used to trade in tandem with TSMC’s capacity cycle—when wafer supply is there, GPUs have something to mine, and the narrative can start to roll.

Netizens on the island are already blasting “scheduled to pay protection money” and “Made-in-US TSMC confirmed,” but from a shareholder perspective, what TSMC gets in return for the $265 billion it’s putting in is locked-in orders from NVDA and others for years—this is a deal TSMC can pencil out. #夏日创作营
