Hyperliquid will launch open prediction markets in HIP-4 - ForkLog
Developers of the Hyperliquid perp-DEX will add open deployment of prediction markets as part of HIP-4.
According to a statement from the team, permissionless contract deployment is “especially important” for the growth of the segment, given the enormous scale of possible outcomes that can be traded.
However, the solution first needs to pass testing in an environment where validators handle deployment. After the HIP-4 update, deployers will be able to launch markets based on approved standardized templates that are stored on-chain.
In Hyperliquid’s view, the template set must cover events with sufficient liquidity and interest, and the wording must remain unambiguous.
To launch HIP-4 markets, deployers will have to lock 500,000 HYPE. Validators will be able to partially or fully take the collateral if the market description is incorrect or the contract is executed improperly.
At launch, each deployer will receive a quota of 100 outcomes (or 200 outcome tokens). To increase the limit later, the team plans to add an auction mechanism.
Fees on such markets will reach 50%, but the launch parameters may still change as a result of discussions with the community. The team emphasized that users will still be able to launch canonical markets directly via Hyperliquid.
HIP-4 was launched in May. Since then, the protocol has processed transactions totaling approximately $272 million.
Recall that in June, open interest on Hyperliquid exceeded $10 billion. The platform ranked third among the largest venues for trading perpetual futures.
