If Hong Kong stablecoins can achieve a 1:1 exchange with the Hong Kong dollar and be fully backed with reserves, it would greatly help Hong Kong consolidate its position as an international financial center—let’s wait and see for the announcement at the end of this month.

From the news, they may publish a joint announcement as early as the end of this month. The timeline is very tight. I don’t know what technical stack they chose—ERC20 or another chain. What about liquidity?

A Hong Kong dollar-pegged stablecoin will make it much more convenient to trade Hong Kong dollar assets on-chain in the future, bringing the bridge between crypto and traditional finance one step closer.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s licensing is the key. Anchorpoint receiving its first license indicates that compliance is assured, but the specific technical details and the transparency of its reserve funds still need further observation.

If HKDAP is truly launched, it would be a major positive for Hong Kong’s digital economy ecosystem, significantly improving cross-border payment and settlement efficiency.

Finally, there’s a Hong Kong dollar stablecoin backed by a bank—Standard Chartered’s move is solid. Hopefully it won’t blow up like some algorithmic stablecoins.
