July 20, 2026 Market Update and Technical Analysis:
Today’s BTC and ETH news flow is mainly driven by a combination of escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, weaker-than-expected macro inflation data, and structural reallocations by institutional funds.
Below is a summary of the core news: 1. Market Performance: BTC is nearing the 65,000 level. ETH and leading altcoins are rising across the board, boosted by both the geopolitical situation and macro data. The crypto market has entered a broad-based rally. Bitcoin (BTC) surged more than 2% over the past 24 hours and briefly approached the $65,000 whole-number mark; it is currently trading in a tight range above $64,500. Ethereum (ETH) and major coins such as Dogecoin are also moving up in tandem. But be cautious: volatility is intense. In the past 24 hours, more than 50k traders worldwide were liquidated, with total losses exceeding $200 million.
2. Macroeconomics and Geopolitics: Escalation of tensions between the US and Iran and rising bets on rate cuts fuel geopolitical conflict and boost risk-aversion: the US military has carried out airstrikes on Iran for the eighth consecutive night. Iran claims that shipping volume through the Strait of Hormuz has dropped to zero. The extreme tension in the region has led to a surge in international oil prices in the over-the-counter market, breaking above $84 per barrel. Global safe-haven capital has temporarily rotated toward the US dollar and US Treasuries, limiting upside room for risk assets.
Inflation cooling boosts risk assets: US June CPI came in below expectations (inflation eased to 3.5%), significantly reducing market expectations for the Federal Reserve’s July rate hike, and increasing the likelihood of rate cuts later this year. Valuations for non-yielding crypto assets have therefore been restored, becoming the key macro catalyst behind this rebound.
3. Capital Flows and Institutional Activity: ETF inflows return, and the market rotates internally: the BTC ETF continues to see net inflows. Bitcoin spot ETFs have maintained net inflows for 4 consecutive trading days (on July 18 alone, net inflows were $132.3 million), completely ending the prior eight-week bearish selling-pressure cycle. Institutional allocation funds, led by BlackRock (IBIT), have been continuously stepping in to buy the dip. Funds rotate from tech stocks to BTC: driven by expectations of an inflation rebound due to rising oil prices, the high-interest-rate environment has suppressed tech stock valuations. Some institutions have started trimming positions in high-level tech segments and instead allocating to Bitcoin, which has had a sufficient prior pullback and offers stronger liquidity.
ETH whale goes long with high leverage against the tide: on-chain data shows that after a whale sold 72 BTC, it opened a 20x leveraged long position and bought ETH worth about $22.4 million, indicating a strong bullish expectation for ETH’s short-term outlook.
4. Technicals and Derivatives Tug-of-War: Violent clashes between bulls and bears in BTC technicals: we are currently in a phase where the BTC bull-bear standoff is intensifying. The first resistance level in the short term is the $65,000 whole-number mark (a concentrated trapped long area). The key medium-term resistance is $65,600 (the 200-day moving average). Strong support lies below in the $63,500 to $64,200 range. ETH derivatives liquidations: Ethereum’s recent rebound has triggered large-scale liquidations of short positions. Over the past 24 hours, about $113 million in short positions were forcibly liquidated. However, analysts noted that due to the lack of spot-buy support, this leveraged-fund-driven rally is likely to be capped and pull back once it hits the $1,900 resistance zone. #BTC行情分析 #ETH行情分析 $BTC $ETH
