Golden Finance reported that on July 20, the U.S. Department of Justice Asset Forfeiture notice said that the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida has ordered the forfeiture of approximately 90.319 BTC, 7,999.873 XMR, and a small amount of XRP, XLM, and SOL held by Angelo Martino, a co-conspirator in the BlackCat/ALPHV ransomware scheme. Based on the current market price, the total value of the crypto assets is roughly $8.37 million, including BTC worth about $5.84 million and XMR worth about $2.46 million, with other tokens totaling about $71k. The court also ordered the forfeiture of his two properties in Florida, along with assets including cars, boats, and other items. Martino previously served as a ransomware negotiator; he was sentenced to 70 months in prison for leaking client negotiation information to attackers and participating in ransomware attacks.
