Golden Finance News reported that on July 20, Jason Oxman, CEO of the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA, whose members include major payment giants such as Visa, Mastercard, Amazon, PayPal, etc.), publicly stated that the association’s members are gradually recognizing the transformative value of Bitcoin, and that in the future traditional electronic payment institutions will roll out more cooperation with Bitcoin-focused startup companies in the industry.
Oxman said ETA will not favor or exclude any electronic payment technology; the industry’s core is to meet the transaction needs of merchants and users. Educational talks about Bitcoin from the early days of the Bitcoin Foundation have helped the payment industry face up to Bitcoin’s commercial value, and cooperation has already been reached between association members and Bitcoin payment service providers. He also discussed the New York BitLicense regulatory proposal, saying he understands the regulator’s focus on consumer protection, but he urged regulators to avoid blanket new rules and to conduct in-depth research on Bitcoin, the blockchain operating mechanisms, and the platform users’ protection measures.
