Wow, on-chain lately has been a whole variety of “cut-in-line” dramas. Those MEV bots—front-running, sandwich attacks, backdoor transactions—basically eat your slippage. Last time I did a Uniswap swap, I got sandwiched twice in a row; the fees literally doubled. I was so mad I almost ate my keyboard.
Now with cross-chain bridges getting stolen and oracle errors popping up, everyone’s shouting “wait for confirmation,” but by the time confirmations come through, those MEV bots are still lining up to squeeze in—does that count as a new kind of “fairness”?
Speaking of the long term, my definition of “long term” is… reading the timing. Sometimes it’s a few minutes—like watching on-chain arbitrage all day; once unrealized profit hits 3%, I run immediately. That’s “intraday long-term.” Other times it’s a few weeks—like mining through a major difficulty event, and only holding out until Gas drops back. Anyway, don’t try to sell me that “quarterly, annual” kind of chicken soup—if your position can withstand needles and pricks, that’s the real skill.
