Oh, it’s that time of year again when the airdrops are rolling around. In the groups, those points-based tasks get competitive like they’re going to work—“anti-sybil/anti-fraud” efforts have turned into something bordering on mysticism. Anyway, I don’t have the energy for it. Just keeping track of the transaction history alone already gives me a headache.

Back when I filed taxes at the end of the year, I’d open the CSV exports from the exchange and see a huge gap. On-chain transfer fees and staking rewards were all just bare data—no useful context. I was furious about it at the time.

Now I’ve learned my lesson: I manually export all wallets’ inflows and outflows every month, and use Excel to label the transaction IDs and memos/notes. Especially for things like cross-chain bridges or contract interactions—relying only on a block explorer is completely unable to reconcile the accounts.

A friend of mine got audited last year, and it was because when he “farm” records for free money, he only kept the incoming payments but didn’t record his Gas fee expenses. In the end, he had to make up a lot.

To put it simply, for people like us who are more conservative, I’d rather spend an extra ten minutes noting “airdrop Gas” than lose my mind at year-end. Oh right—lately the task platforms have been cracking down on “anti-sybil/anti-fraud” so strictly that those fabricated records will be even more troublesome later. We’d better keep proper records the honest way. At least then, our logs can help prevent problems like being flagged for misuse or duplicated/replayed entries.

That’s it for now—I’m going to add a few more notes.
