I’ve been organizing my records of this year’s cross-chain activity recently, and the more I organize, the more of a headache it gives me 😅. To be honest, what I fear most isn’t losing money—it’s losing control. Transaction records are scattered here and there; I only find out at year-end when doing the accounts that there are still a bunch of unclaimed air drops or leftover fees on some chain. Then I have to fix the taxes, and it drives me to the breaking point.
I recently started using Koinly and Tresorio, but they’re not a magic solution either. Sometimes cross-chain transactions get labeled as “transfer” or “fee,” and I have to categorize them manually. Anyway, I now export my wallet records once every week as a habit, and I also label those large transfers of “smart money” that suddenly appear on-chain, so the system won’t treat them as incorrectly recorded costs later.
In plain terms, spending an extra ten minutes organizing day to day saves me from having to dig through months of on-chain data at year-end. The fees hurt, but having the records get messy is even worse. That’s it for now—I’ll go back to updating my notes…
