I was organizing my wallets last night, switching chains switching until I got dizzy. One slip of the hand and I almost sent a fairly valuable chunk of assets to a contract address I’ve never kept funds at before. Damn—my heartbeat immediately shot up to 120. When I finally came to my senses, I thought about it for a long time—I feel like it’s not the first time. This person’s reaction was clearly slower by a few beats than last time.
Honestly, managing wallets is really exhausting now. Gas fees are different on every chain. Assets get moved here and there. Some wallets handle ERC20, some only recognize BSC, and some require manually adding RPC. And then there are those newly popping up AI Agents—automatically grabbing data, automatically sweeping orders. It sounds cool, but would you really hand your private key over to code? Anyway, I wouldn’t. Spinning a narrative is one thing; if you make a mistake and the address is wrong, the risk runs faster than the upside.
What I’m doing right now is: I lock the chains I commonly use in a hardware wallet. Testnet and small leftover assets go into a hot wallet, and I keep bookkeeping on a regular basis. When the funding rate goes up, it means FOMO sentiment is rising—many on-chain wallets probably met their end in that wave of hype. But as long as I manage the address correctly first and don’t slip, it’s fine. Safety comes first. No matter how flashy the features are, they can go to hell.
