I just came across a DAO proposal. The voting logic is written really convoluted, packed with a lot of cryptography terms. On closer inspection, it’s basically just to pay the core team a bit more salary, with lock-up conditions attached. How should I put it—I've voted on proposals like this a few times. Later I realized, plain and simple: whoever controls the discourse power sets the rules. Retail participants vote along, and basically end up being the denominator. The incentives are mainly prepared for the whales that get delegated voting power.
Lately I’ve been watching large on-chain transfers, and a lot of people treat them like “smart money” and chase them. Honestly, I used to do the same—I’d stare at whale addresses every day, afraid to miss the steering wheel. Now, though, it feels a bit obsessive. On-chain data can be a reference, but you also have to look at sentiment and fundamentals; otherwise, you’re likely to end up being a “grass” in a “smart money” trap.
Anyway, for a small retail guy like me, it’s best to keep it simple and just read the logic carefully. If I lose, I have to explain clearly why I lost—don’t get swept up by flashy incentives. That’s it for now; I’m going to grab a coffee.
