I just saw a discussion about contract approvals with unlimited allowances, and it suddenly reminded me of how I didn’t bother with this stuff before either—just click approve and it’s done. Who cares what happens later, right? But lately I’ve been a bit more afraid. Those unlimited allowance approvals, in plain terms, mean you fully trust that a certain contract will never do anything malicious, or will never have a vulnerability. How could that possibly be true?

Think about it: when you sleep, don’t you lock the door? Unlimited allowance approvals in your wallet are like leaving a key for a thief when you go out. And those on-chain data tools take time to investigate—some tagging systems run a little late. By the time you see the risk warning, the money is already gone. It’s really annoying.

I used to follow a bunch of protocols, but later on, several of them changed teams or stopped their activities. It wasn’t until I unsubscribed that I noticed I still had approvals hanging. My mindset was that I trusted them pretty blindly back then, but when it came time to unsubscribe, it felt a bit awkward and embarrassing—as if I owed myself an explanation. Forget it, I’ll just scan my approval records regularly, like the security check before bed. It’s quick and easy.
