Lately I’ve been talking with friends about tax filing, and the more we talk, the more anxious I get. In the past, I always thought I could just pull up the on-chain records and be done with it. Then when I reviewed everything at year-end, gas fees, cross-chain activity, airdrops, and selling NFTs all got mixed together—I couldn’t tell which transactions were costs and which were gains. 😅

My current habit is: after every interaction, I jot down the time, amount, and gas, and also add a tag—whether it’s “free-money/airdrop farming cost” or a “short-term trade.” It’s a hassle, but in the end it really makes year-end a lot less stressful. Besides, once you lower your expectations, it actually feels more reassuring to do it step by step—at least you won’t lose your mind when tax season comes.

Recently, I heard that some region has started adding taxes again, tightening compliance, and changing people’s expectations about how they handle deposits and withdrawals. I personally feel that instead of obsessing over policy and getting anxious, it’s better to get the records straight first. That’s the long-term mindset—first survive, then deal with the rest.
