I just saw someone in the group share a screenshot of that stablecoin depegging, with the caption “run now.” Then below it, a bunch of people started arguing back and forth: “What about the reserve audits?” “Isn’t that fake?” Honestly, the moment I see the two characters “depeg,” I have a reflex to report it, but my fingers are still itching and I’ll click to take a look… I’m really fed up.
Then one guy suddenly started bringing up words like data availability, ordering, and finality, saying, “Do you even understand how on-chain data is actually generated?” I know he probably means the whole thing about nodes and sorters, but I think, no matter how many scary terms there are, the point is: can on-chain data actually be trusted? Is there any trickery in ordering? After finality is reached, can it still be changed? Anyway, when I went for an Airdrop, I took a loss because an L2 sorter secretly changed the order, and later I learned my lesson and started waiting for a few more confirmations.
Lately, when the market moves a bit, these “safe” concepts get pulled out and reheated. As far as I’m concerned, **I treat simplicity as a trap**—the more it looks like a calm, stable pool, the more you need to watch for hidden undertows. That’s it—off I go to confirm a transfer. Fees are up again… sigh.
