Let me bring up a slightly puzzling issue—what does a modular blockchain actually mean for ordinary users like us?
Honestly, I don’t really like the kind of situation where “developers are excited, while users are left clueless.” Modularization separates execution, settlement, and data availability—at least in theory it can lower the barrier. But what about in real life? From an experience standpoint, the fragmented feeling of cross-chain interactions is still there: you have to approve repeatedly, switch gas, and it’s pretty annoying. Especially for someone like me who watches interest rate curves and liquidation lines, frequently switching dApps feels like guessing off a menu—you don’t really have a solid sense of what you’re getting.
But looking at it from another angle, modularization does make the DA-layer narrative come to life. In the past, one chain would be expensive; now you can choose a cheaper data layer and indirectly save on gas. The catch is that these changes are mostly invisible to us. Unless you go read the parameters and adjust your strategy, you probably won’t feel it.
Anyway, for now, I’d rather move more slowly—let a few mature modular applications settle on-chain first, and then consider using leverage. After all, security comes first, efficiency second—no matter how attractive the interest rates are, once liquidations come, it’s all for nothing.
