Tether and other non-US stablecoin issuers still have two years left to determine a compliant US strategy

Odaily Planet Daily reports that the U.S. stablecoin regulatory bill, the GENIUS Act, has reached its one-year anniversary. Issuers outside the United States, such as Tether, have two more years to determine compliance strategies to meet the U.S. stablecoin issuance rules.

The bill was originally expected to have the federal financial regulators finalize stablecoin rulemaking before the one-year mark, but the relevant rules have not been released, leaving uncertainty in the compliance pathway.

Under the basic framework by U.S. standards, if Tether’s USDT is to meet legal requirements, it needs to complete multiple major adjustments before the rules take effect.
