Recent issues with several cross-chain bridges and oracles have left people stuck debating how long they should “wait for confirmation.” Honestly, when it comes to security solutions, you really have to look at whether the assets you have are worth the effort.

After mulling it over—hardware wallets, multisig, social recovery—it comes down to this: how much effort you’re willing to put into protecting that pile of assets. If you’re just playing around with a few thousand USDT, then a hardware wallet plus a recovery phrase is a solid choice. But if the amount is large enough that a single loss would keep you up at night, multisig and social recovery are worth studying—especially now that on-chain fund flows are getting more complex. Once the money gets scattered, the cost to retrieve it is downright scary.

I’ve tried social recovery myself, and it feels like leaving yourself a fallback route—provided the people you trust are truly reliable. Otherwise, multisig is at least clearer in terms of logic.

Oh, and really, sometimes when you think about it, those so-called “security solutions” you see are just repackaging your anxiety. What are you actually afraid of—losing funds, or having to face the emotional decisions you made back then? As someone who likes data, I can only say: first figure out what you’re really capable of.
