Recently, when I look at on-chain data, I keep running into Subgraph getting stuck, or the RPC suddenly going haywire—pages end up spinning for a long time. At first I thought it was a network issue, but later I realized the indexer updates were a beat behind, and with RPC rate limiting, the data is like waiting for a bus that’s supposed to arrive but just doesn’t.

My mom asked me today, “Is this thing like cellphone signal—when there are too many people, it can’t move?” I figured, yeah, kind of, but more accurately, the data interface is “breathing hard.” Especially with the recent NFT royalties drama—when on-chain transactions spike, query requests pile up, and the small pipe gets clogged straight through.

Anyway, I’m used to it now. When data hangs, I do something else first, and wait until it catches up before checking. Rate limiting is also protecting the nodes—so they don’t get overwhelmed. As for positions, being slower is fine; once the data is in, moving is never too late.
