Cross-chain is doing too much. Honestly, “data availability” is something that worries people more than almost any gas fee. Put simply, it comes down to whether the transaction on your chain was actually recorded—correctly. Don’t look back when the bridge breaks or the sequencer goes haywire; you see funds arrive on your side, but the DA layer over there doesn’t even have a trace.

Recently I’ve been looking at some RWA and U.S. Treasury yield products. Making dollar-denominated Treasury interest directly on-chain sounds great, but once you think about having to cross two layers of chains and potentially waiting hours for finality, I hesitate. Anyway, I’m willing to wait an extra round for confirmation and swap bridges once more just to feel at ease, even if it costs more in fees—better than waking up in the middle of the night unable to sleep after seeing “data unavailable.”
