I watched the chart for a while, and when I was about to add a position, I got hit by some slippage—pretty annoying.

I was going to test the liquidity with a small order, but the moment I placed it, it filled directly at the tail end of the price. It made my stomach drop. It wasn’t about losing a lot, but that “you think there’s room, and the market just squeezes you” feeling is just terrible.
Lately, on the unlock calendar, everyone keeps talking about sell-pressure anxiety. Honestly, I can’t help but take a couple extra looks at my mid-term positions too. But one thing I’ve figured out—slippage isn’t something you can dodge just by clicking faster. The real issue is whether the order book depth is sufficient at that time, and whether someone else is trying to buy/sell right alongside you so you get stuck.
Before I place an order now, I check the thickness of the bid and ask—buy one and sell one. Don’t嫌 it’s a hassle; it’s more useful than just about any indicator.
