Deep Tide TechFlow news: On July 19, according to a report by Korean media outlet ETNews, the South Korean government released a “Korean Won Internationalization Roadmap,” proposing to promote a transition of the Korean won toward a freely convertible currency and to build an offshore Korean won settlement network. Under the plan, the Bank of Korea plans to pilot the “offshore Korean won settlement network” in September this year, and officially launch it in January next year. At the same time, it will advance the development of digital asset payment infrastructure to support the issuance, distribution, and trading of won-denominated stablecoins.

South Korea also plans to launch a government bond tokenization pilot linked to digital currency issued by institutions of the Bank of Korea next year, and to officially join “Agora,” a cross-border digital payments project led by the Bank for International Settlements.
