Honestly, about royalties—back then everyone said they wanted to protect creators, but now it’s become one of the toughest pieces of bone in the secondary market. Lately I’ve been seeing a bunch of platforms changing their policies, and artists are left stunned on the spot, while users are arguing too. I totally understand why artists feel they shouldn’t be barred from taking a cut when their own works get circulated again in the secondary market, but I also know that in reality liquidity was always thin to begin with, and with royalties on top, it really just turns into air trading. To be honest, the more I look, the more I can’t make sense of it—back when people pushed social mining and fan tokens, they dressed it up as turning attention into revenue, but when you think about it, it’s basically just mortgaging trust. I’m not convinced that the so-called “creator economy” can ever deliver fair liquidity, but I can’t blame anyone either; everyone is just trying to carve out their own route through the structural gaps. Forget it—let’s wait and see.
